Aglaonema nebulosum is a species in the family Araceae, native to Assam, India, and found in subtropical moist montane forests across Southeast Asia including Malaya, Borneo, Java, and Sumatra. It is an evergreen perennial plant, typically 70–150cm tall with upright, thick stems (0.5–1.0cm diameter). The petioles measure 5–27cm, and the glossy green leaves are elliptic and ovate, measuring about 19.6–26.3cm long and 9.6–11.4cm wide, often with irregular ashy or silvery patches on the upper surface. The plant flowers from November to March with small, white bell-shaped flowers, and fruits mature by April.

Caring for Aglaonema nebulosum
Light: Prefers partial shade or bright, indirect light. Can tolerate low-light conditions, but best leaf color emerges in brighter light (never direct sun).

Watering: Water only when the top inch of soil is dry. Overwatering causes root rot, so ensure good drainage. Mist leaves regularly to boost humidity.

Humidity: Thrives in humid environments but can tolerate average home humidity. Regular misting is helpful.

Soil: Use well-draining soil, such as a mix of cocopeat and regular soil. Avoid heavy clay soils that retain too much moisture.

Fertilizer: Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced houseplant fertilizer diluted to half strength. No fertilizer is needed in winter.

Repotting: Prefers to be slightly root-bound. Repot every 2–3 years using a pot just 2cm bigger in diameter.

Pruning: Trim dried leaves and stems every few weeks to encourage bushier growth.

Toxicity: Mildly toxic to humans and pets if ingested due to calcium oxalate crystals — causes mouth and stomach irritation.

Adaptability
Temperature Range: 65–75°F (18–24°C) is optimal. Avoid temperatures below 60°F (15°C).

Tolerance: Highly adaptable to less-than-ideal lighting, humidity, and temperature conditions. Can survive periods of neglect but grows best with moderate attention.
