The “Homolomina Dolphin” appears to refer to a distinctive species within the Homalomena genus, specifically a newly described species called Homalomena siaisensis, informally referred to as the “Dolphin Skin” Homalomena. This species is a small lithophytic herb endemic to Sumatra, Indonesia.

Description
Homolomena Dolphin (Homalomena siaisensis) is characterized by its small size (2.9-5.4 cm in height), fleshy oblong elliptic leaves with a slightly crisped margin, and various unique floral features including a brownish-green to dark red spathe and light coral pistils with red spots. The plant grows in clumps, with 8-9 leaves per crown, leaves having a thick, fleshy texture, and a distinctive reddish hue on veins and petioles. It is lithophytic, meaning it typically grows on rocks or stone surfaces in its native habitat.

Caring
The plant requires a well-drained potting mix rich in organic matter and prefers slightly acidic to neutral soil (pH 6.0-8.0).

It thrives in medium to low light but prefers bright indirect light. Direct sunlight can cause leaf burn, while low light slows growth.

It needs consistent watering to keep the soil moist but not soggy; the top layer of soil should be allowed to dry out slightly between watering.

Warm temperatures between 60°F-90°F (16°C-32°C) are best; it is sensitive to cold below 65°F (18°C).

High humidity (60-80%) is beneficial; misting and humidifiers can help indoors.

Occasional feeding with diluted liquid fertilizer during active growth in spring and summer supports healthy growth.

Regular removal of yellowing or damaged leaves is recommended to maintain plant health.

Adaptability
Homalomena Dolphin adapts well to indoor environments with controlled humidity and temperature.

It can tolerate medium light exposures but thrives better with moderate indirect sunlight.

This species is slow-growing and best suited to terrariums or vivariums due to its preference for humid, damp, and shady conditions.

It can handle lower light conditions but with slower growth and less vibrant foliage.

Growing Conditions
In the wild, it grows mainly in tropical wet environments on lithophytic substrates (rocks) implying a natural preference for high humidity and good drainage.

As a houseplant, it needs a peat-based, well-drained, loose soil mix that holds moisture without becoming waterlogged.

Temperature control avoiding drafts and cold is important, mimicking tropical understory conditions.

It benefits from being grown in a snug pot that allows the root system adequate but not excessive space.
